Solar SWRO, pond-based ZLD, and mineral recovery at Punta Banda, Baja California
The pilot is three 0.33 MGD Toray SWRO trains (about 1 MGD), with partial redundancy for maintenance. The same architecture scales to 10 MGD. Power is 100% solar. Early water sales are to the municipality (CEA/CESPE), which needs the full pilot output.
A high-recovery concentrator feeds lined evaporation ponds. Mechanical harvesting produces industrial-grade NaCl, with modest Mg(OH)₂ precipitation. No marine brine discharge.
Coastal intake parcel of 5 acres or less (subsurface beach wells, pumps, control). Inland campus of 500 acres for the plant, solar field, ponds, and expansion to 10 MGD. Pilot operations are staged on the inland site.
